I would like to create a viz displaying students changing majors. For each record, I have their current major and the one they changed to. The idea is that I want to make it easy to see where students go when they leave a particular major, and where they come from when they enter a different major.

One really nice way I've seen this implemented (in a different tool) is with a bipartite graph. When the user hovers over the original major on the left, it highlights the paths to the new majors on the right. Similarly, they can hover over a single new major and it highlights where they came from.

It looked kind of like this except it was many to many between the two columns (this example is one to one).

I'm not dead set on that particular viz. Does anyone have a good suggestion for how to visualize this? Thanks!
