HelpSocial is hiring! We are looking for Linux Operations Engineers and Software Developers. These roles are DevOps roles and the successful candidates will be expected to have a number of responsibilities.

We are looking for someone who can be responsible for designing and implementing a brand new data processing system using the latest stream processing techniques. As part of the founding team you will have the opportunity to define and work in various areas of the platform including data ingestion, data processing, algorithm design, reporting, visualization, etc. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of product definition and system architecture.

We want someone who is a strong software engineer who is passionate about large-scale systems. We care about producing clean, elegant, maintainable, robust, well-tested code and enjoy collaborating with others to come up collectively with the best possible solution. You will have experience with performance, scalability, and reliability issues of large 24x7 systems.

We love technology, and we are always on the lookout for new tools and ideas to enhance our product and processes.

Requirements:

• Assist in the ongoing operation and maintenance of existing servers.
• Share on-call responsibilities with the rest of the team.
• Experience building complex systems with high performance, scalability and reliability requirements.
• Experience with distributed data processing system (Kafka, Storm, Spark, Shark, Akka, Hadoop, others.)
• Experience with NoSQL systems such as MongoDB and Redis.
• Solid Linux background with experience building and configuring servers.
• Experience with centralized config management concepts (Chef, Ansible, Salt, etc.)
• Understanding of system monitoring tools and concepts (Nagios, Pingdom, etc).
• Ability to write PHP, Python, or Java code and deal with MySQL databases.
• Familiar with Git.
• Extreme comfort with the Linux command line interface.
• Relevant post secondary education, or equivalent industry experience.
