I'm not a sports guy, but I figured with the Super Bowl just taking place, I'd use one for the title. This is definitely a rant. Just up to my eyeballs in frustration over HP/Unisys.
So a couple weeks ago we had a DL580 Gen 9 just turn off on it's own. So of course we turned it back on, and it stayed up for like 5 minutes then off again. So we opened a case. This is an ESXi host so we have 10 others in the cluster so not super critical to get back online, but we want it back as soon as possible.
1st Engineer visit: Replaced some parts, didn't get any better.
2nd Engineer visit: Replaced some parts, made it worse, server wouldn't even power up any more. Engineer put parts back into server that were there before.
3rd Engineer visit (today): Engineer replaced some different parts, and wow, server powers on. We're back in business! Except... not...
Apparently, the engineer (Unisys) on visit #2 decided to ship back our good HDDs with the other parts he shipped back to HP on visit #2. Same engineer visited all 3 times. But he actually called me to see if I knew where the HDDs were. I'm on the west coast, and the server on the east coast, so I have no clue. So the he admits to me that he accidentally shipped the HDDs back to HP. That he is going to call the Depot to see if they still have them, to ship them back to me.
I just got a call from HP support. Of course, the engineer didn't tell them he lost the HDDs, just put an order in for 2 new HDDs.
The incompetence of these companies are mind boggling.
