Hi! I am a new tech at a middle school. I had an ESOL(English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher approach me asking for a solution to a problem they have. Most of the kids she teaches speak little to no english, and so struggle with reading assignments and things that are written on the board. She wanted software for a Chromebook that will translate that. Obviously, its hard for a chromebook to do that. I mentioned Google Translate, since they have a live translation feature.
However, kids are not allowed to have their phones out, since they cant really be trusted to not get distracted. Does anyone or has anyone gotten phones used only for an application like this? They have to be fairly cheap, as she only has a grant of about $910 for min 18 phones. So we are looking at like $40 phones. Is there management software to lock them down so only google translate can run? Will they work with Google Admin, GoGuardian? Literally any help is appreciated
And if this isn't the right sub, please direct me to the best one. I'm more or less new to IT subs
