i just noticed this pattern between synthpop and australia, and this was how:
i was at a smoothie shop a few days ago and they were playing “lights and music” by cut copy (australians).
today at the nail salon they were playing “sacrifice” by elton john (not australian but the song isn’t even synthpop, so hold on…). naturally the song reminded my millennial brain of “cold heart” by elton, dua lipa (yeah, she’s not australian either), and pnau (here they are! the australians).
lastly, when i was like, “hey! there’s that australian/synthpop combo again!” google sent me to a page that lists australian synthpop artists, and there listed under “e” was empire of the sun, one half of which is one-third of pnau. 🤯
really i just wanted to tell about a time my world came full circle. should i post this on r/australia?
