Hi all! Looking for an 8 input PC (so USB-2) audio interface, specific to doing multiple synths, to get separate tracks into Ableton for processing into blended sounds.

Many of the options out there focus on mic inputs for bands, but I'm looking for the good option to bring in (unbalanced) inputs from a handful of keyboard/rack synths plus some homebrew drone electronics I'm working on.

Looking budget, so thinking about the Tascam US-2000 ($300!) or the Motu UltraLite-mk3 (at $600, this is more or less topping my budget range). PC itself is a quad-core i7 laptop, so should be able to handle things from a speed perspective if drivers aren't wonky.

So, anyone have advice specific to multi-synth use?
