Input about swapping out most of my gear
Post Body

I'm inclined to get rid of most of my old gear, and buy a smaller amount of new gear.

Reasons to change:

  • my old gear isn't inspiring me
  • the clutter gets in the way of cultivating a new work flow
  • feeling more interested in other production methods

Reasons I'm hesitating:

  • emotional attachment to things like my Fender Rhodes, Juno 106, Hammond organ, (I'd keep the Moog though!)
  • fear of regret
  • the new & unknown might not be any more exciting creatively
  • it'll probably be expensive

My interests are more around DAW work now. Electronic, orchestral, a wide range. On the other hand I don't want to fall into laptop cliches.

So - have you (or someone you know) gone through a process like this? Are you happy with the results? Would you do anything differently?
