Just to preface I'm a producer that's only used VSTs to make patches for the last 8 years, and I also engineer with a hybrid setup for bands and solo artists as well, I'm looking to add an analog synth to my studio for an extra pallet for my own sound, and for starting ideas which I can later layer over or jam over top of in my DAW. My favorite synth of all time is the OB-XA but I'm not ready to pay the premium for the new OB-X8 just yet. I like the Matriarch for its patching, arpeggiator, delay as well as its mono bass tone. The appeal with the OB-6 is creating pads outside of the DAW as well as that bite that Oberheims have. I've considered the prophet 6 as well but out of the three I still prefer the Matriarch and Ob-6 more. I plan on buying both at some point so I guess which one should I start with first? Or should I just start with Matriarch and wait for the OB-X8 to come down in price?
