There was a track I had the opportunity to hear on a large system and the production had this 1/4 or 1/16 beat pan delay that carried a sound that completely blew my mind.
The closest thing to this is my Serato software pan delay via a controller - which does a meh job of what I want to hear for it appears the sound is still center yet the volume is manipulated on either side to create the pan delay. I am searching for a vibrant and clear pan delay that can be conducted live with my hardware synths. So far in my research something like the Boss RPD-10 Micro Rack Series Digital Panning Delay seems to be around what I am thinking of.
EDIT: An answer in this thread has mentioned "tremolo/stereo pan effect", which is actually much closer to what I am talking about than a Delay Pan effect. Thank you all who are responding, the answers and suggestions here have enlightened me.
