Drive crash while adding it to the storage pool
Post Body

hello,

I was adding a brand new Seagate ironwolf drive to the storage pool, but now the drive shows crashed. More precisely, the storage pool shows that the drive allocation status is 'crashed' but the status of the drive is still 'healthy'.

The storage pool still claims to be in the process of adding the new drive.

Is the allocation status just showing that the new drive hasn't been allocated yet? Or is there a problem?

If there is a problem, do I re-initialize the drive (erase first I suppose?) or should I just return the drive (within the return time period) and try again with a new one?

Thanks - haven't been in IT for well over a decade and am rusty.
