I've been using a ds18J for about 2 years. It's connected through NetGear ORBI. It was hard wired through a hub to an LG television so I could access the files through DLNA. I never had any issues. I upgraded to a Samsung TV. This TV recognized the Synology right away as an input. But, it would only play some files. Most of the time, it would advised there was an audio codec issue. I read that it had something to do with Samsung not wanting to pay royalties for something to do with Dolby Digital. Anyways, I was ticked off, so I returned the TV to Costco and exchanged it for a new LG TV. It won't recognize the NAS. LG has been no help, I've spoken with multiple people and none of them even know what a NAS is (one lady told me she had been there with the TV support section for 5 years and had no idea what I was talking about). I saw a YouTube video where a guy used the LG WebOS and device connector was able to access his NAS by walking through the steps as if you were trying to connect the TV to your PC. I can't get it to connect. Called Synology, and we tried a few things, but nothing worked. I was able to access the NAS through every other device. I noticed the LAN IP of the TV was 10.0.0.x. I thought that was interesting so I logged into the ORBI router. Every device I have has an IP of 10.0.0.x, except for the NAS which has a 192.168.1.xxx. So, it seems the gateway of NAS isn't the same as the router. This would make sense why the TV doesn't recognize it. I've tried to change the IP/Gateway of the NAS, but it keeps coming back with a 192.168...I've tried to set DHCP automatically, and I've assigned it an available IP from ORBI manually, neither work. I've tried the reset multiple times but nothing works. I can access the disk station when I plug it directly to the PC. I can also access it via quick connect when it's hooked up to the router. It shows as a wired connection in the list of connected devices in the router. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? I thought about a factory reset, but I then found out that I would lose everything on the drive (I've got over 1.5TB of data). I definitely can't lose all of that. A woman from Tech support tried to help, but we kept running to dead ends. Eventually, she told me that my NAS just might not be compatible with this LG TV, but I find that hard to believe. When trying to find devices on the TV, it even says in small print (make sure the device you are trying to connect with starts with the same 3 digits from the gateway as the TV, which would be 10.0.0. I'm guessing if I can get the Synology to get on the right gateway with a 10.0.0...IP address, things would work fine.
