Create volume on USB SSD

Pleas some one help me. I'm out of options!!

I'm running a DS918 server with 3 HDD in it.
For mediastreaming all the metadata etc. are on the HDD, so its not very quick or anything.
I have a Samsung SSD pro that i connected with a USB 3.0 / SATA converter to plugin in the USB port.
The NAS sees the SSD in the file station and everything works fine.
But why cant i make a Volume on the USB(SSD) drive? I need to install my mediaserver on the USB(SSD) so that i works quicker than the HDD.
I even bought exFAT because i thought it could only be done with that sofware. But im really out of options right now.
please someone help?
