After years of painting AoS models I have finally signed up to play in an escalation league with some friends at my lgs. Started at 500 points, then 750, my next game is 1k. Needless to say, I am getting annihilated. My 750 point game was: Warsong Revenant Kurnoth hunters GB Kurnoth Hunters GS Tree Revevants

GS hunters got annihilated by enemy hero, tried to keep the bows at range, got charged and wiped out, tried to hop the revenants around to objectives but they also got caught out and destroyed, and the Revenant was then by himself and did not do well. My first game was similar. For my next game I am at 1k points and I see a lot of lists are running with Belthanos right now. My question is what exactly should I be aiming for here because I thought it was summon trees, stay near them using them as castles and be kind of tanky. Looking at Belthanos war scroll it seems a much more aggressive charge style of gameplay. Am I thinking of this correctly or am I setting myself up to get wrecked again? 1k list being considered is: Belthanos Hunters with Gb Hunters with GS Tree revenants Gossamid archers which gets me to 980 points.
