Spearhead League Starting

So our local group is starting a spearhead league soon. Points for buying/painting/playing with the Spearhead and Vanguard boxes over the summer ending in a spearhead tournament.
I have the Belthanos Dawnbring box as my first box toward Sylvaneth but planned on at least a Vangiard or two any way (likely 3 over time).
Is the Vanguard box good enough to stand up against the new Spearhead kits? Or Should I start a different faction for this?
