And I don’t mean like 90s/early 2000s r&b. I mean actual oldies. Funk. Soul. Classic rock you can dance to.
I like the idea of clubbing and it’s a thing that’s part of the culture of my social circles given I’m a 2nd year uni student. But I just don’t vibe to the music they play at places like the ivy, argyle, side bar, greenwood etc. I’m sick of pit bulls voice. Sometimes when I’m feeling nostalgic I’ll put on one of those pit bull/flo rida type songs and enjoy it but I don’t go clubbing to live in the past. I want to dance at clubs to the same stuff I dance to in my room. Marvin Gaye type stuff. Shuggie Otis, little feat.
I went to a grateful dead cover band show at the red rattler earlier this year and I never danced harder in my life. When I go to mainstream uni clubs the best I can muster up is a sway. What are some places I need to check out?
