Rental advice: the case of the reappearing landlord
Post Body

Hey folks, hoping for some advice here.

Been renting our current place for 2.5 years. The owners were the landlords and managed rent and repairs themselves. Never did an inspection - everything was easy by comparison to the usual stress you hear about!

They own the full set of town houses, and another tenant recently moved out, and apparently trashed their place, leading the owners to freak and appoint a property manager. It's now been a nightmare. There is a bunch of standard wear-and-tear after 2.5 years that we're now being hauled over the coals for, and some of the demands and feedback is pretty unreasonable (e.g. 'during my last inspection, I noticed food splatter. This is unacceptable' - the food splatter was in the kitchen at midday, and we have three kids).

My question is, does the relative absence of the realtor and the lack of photos/inspections (including when we renewed the lease after being in for a year) change our rights in any way in relation to these?
