Lost a phone on a bus. What can I do?

That pesky thing slipped out from my pocket on a bus.
I filled out a form online on the Transport for NSW website… but does that work?
Will I ever get my phone back?
EDIT: I was able to login to my Samsung SmartThings Find Device and track my phone. It was still on the same bus and was travelling back the opposite direction on the same route. I timed it with the bus schedule and waited at the nearest bus stop to me. I got on the bus and told the driver I left my phone on the bus, and he kept it!
