Note I'm making no moral judgement either way in posing this question, this is not an "OMG computer games make our kids into murderers" outrage discussion. I think it's an interesting perspective on the KOTFE story so far.
A number of the moral choices in SWTOR (and other games) are based around either ignoring risk of civilian collateral. KOTFE Chapter 10 especially allows you to outright seek civilian death and terror. The scenario as it stands is that you're fighting against a distant, more technologically advanced oppressor, who establishes military bases and punishing economic embargoes and deals, utilising unmanned military strikes by way of punishing rebellion, but makes no direct colonisation attempts against your civilisations, which are still greatly concerned with a war against each other.
So in response to this situation, you assemble an underground, makeshift army and resistance organisation, with the intent of bringing the fight to this distant enemy by any means necessary. I've seen numerous arguments in gen chat about how the Zakuul populace are complicit in Arkann's atrocities so are legitimate targets, which is similar to the arguments made by terrorist organisations around the world in favour of strikes against civilians.
Do you think this is a reasonable analogy to make, and if so, how does that affect your feelings about your actions in-game? (I'd say 'or in real life', but I fear that would just result in things spiralling into a total goddamned flame war)
