Error Code: C7 after Windows 8.1 installation?

I've been playing the game nonstop up until yesterday, when my computer was forced to update from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.

After starting up SWTOR and pressing play, I'd receive the error

"This program encountered an internal error and will exit.

Error Code: C7. Incompatible system.

Please verify your system is compatible with this game.

I've looked up tons of posts about this error but none involve Windows 8.1, and most of them say I have to update my driver, which is Intel, and I get an error from that too! Any help from someone who knows about this issue, or anything about computers at all would be greatly appreciated!
