Hi everyone! I'm thinking of giving my players in an upcoming AoR clone wars campaign a minion squad each under their command. Make them a platoon, rather than a squad. At the moment I'm going to give them 9 minions each (this is the size of a clone squad according to the wiki), capping the minions skills at 5 so they're not rolling insane dice pools and to have a little buffer of hp before they're mechanically impacted.
Ideally I'd be taking advantage of this to provide the players with a more military/battlefield focused campaign. I intend to throw long, deadly missions at my players where I chip away at them and their squads over time in between moments of respite. This seems like a better way to explore the themes of the clone wars and indeed any open war than the usual irregular squad of guerrillas that normally comes up in my experiences of AoR.
Has anyone had any experience running a game like this? Or have any ideas I can implement to make it more interesting? I had an idea to give each player either an extra skill for their squad or even an extra piece of gear or a different weapon to give them a little specialization.
