Link: Volsted's "An in-depth weapon comparison (New! Improved! Now with 87% fewer flawed assumptions!"
I made a spreadsheet with all of his data to calculate the "effectiveness rating" of each weapon, as well as the ability to input your own weapons to compare them with others. But I don't know if this information is outdated and should be used anymore.
If this stuff is still valid, I will upload my spreadsheet. So, is it still useful or is all of it obsolete now?
Edit: I've decided to just go with it since all of the math, as far as I can tell, is correct, as are his assumptions. If you are interested, you can download the XLS spreadsheet here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7634177/Volsted Weapon Effectiveness.xlsx
Note: you will need MS Excel 2007 or newer to open this file.
A couple of notes:
Where it says (User input) is something required for a calculation. If you leave it blank, it will count as 0 and make any resulting calculation incorrect.
The thing you will be most interested in changing is min/max damage, base speed, and attack speed skill. These will vary greatly since you can slice weapons and craft weapons of varying quality with different min/max damage and base attack speed. Armor pierce is also important if you can find that information about a weapon.
There is a speed cap of 1.00 for all weapons, meaning you cannot make a weapon fire any faster than that if your skill for that particular weapon type exceeds the value shown in the "Skill for Speed Cap" column.
