Making a character feel fear

I’ll try to make this as simple as possible.

I want to lead my PCs to a kyber crystal, one that he’s drawn to, but the closer he gets to it the more filled with nervous adrenaline and fear he is filled with. In order to get the crystal, he needs to power through the fear.

This was an idea I had and I thought it was perfect for the character, but the problem is I don’t know how to actually go about doing this, don’t know how he could get over the fear, or what would really stop him in the first place. Your guys’ Input is what I need
