Maroonings!
Some of the best Survivor premiers began with the chaos of unexpected āshipwreckā events. A few of my favorites:
Pearl Islands has iconic moments like Rupert stealing shoes, and Sandra bartering like a boss.
Second Chances when Kelly swims ahead to soothe her ego after losing in S1.
Tocantins splits the tribes and puts them into an awkward situation, but the hike leads to some day 1 alliances.
Most importantly it makes the premiere feel special, with a unique event at its start. With 13 episodes to follow, I think the first challenge shouldnāt be variant of the Run, Lift, Swim, Build, Puzzle formula. IMO, a Shipwreck style scramble brings out a social manipulation energy thatās not present in a purely physical challenge. It also presents opportunities for scheming, and I love that - Gimme a season with some good Villains! Overall, I think it was a good premiere, and great view into their camp life.
What small change do you want to see?
