I remember when they first hid hidden immunity idols at the reward and immunity challenges. I loved it. It was exciting and added drama. I commend them for trying something else in the 3-part idol and having to deliver the phrase at the challenges, but personally, it's not working for me.
However, the part that I keep getting hung up on is Xander (and technically Brad) losing their right to vote...permanently. It's such a harsh penalty for something in this game that is only second to fire in importance. It turns players into figurative dead weight in the game.
I've talked to some fans that say "It said 'Beware'. They get what they pay for." And I understand that line of thinking, but it doesn't sit right with me.
Would people be receptive to a 'Forgiveness Advantage'? Like imagine a challenge similar to the log challenge in Winners at War. If they complete getting all the logs by sundown, they get their vote back - but it also kept them away from their tribe and social dynamics the entire day. Should they have to lie about where they've been? Should the completion of forgiveness include fessing up to their tribe that they had to do this?
I dunno, but in my opinion, if they're going to keep the Beware advantages, then they need to either reduce the punishment or think of a way to rectify the bad decision.
