Had a thought about a season of survivor, with the intention that it is for an all newbie season....
Two tribes descend on a beach. Jeff welcomes them and explains that they have been randomly selected onto their tribe: 'Nulatao' and 'Olpename'. Everyone on the Olpename tribe will be told that no matter how much they look, there are absolutely no idols and no advantages on their beach. They will be forced to play the game similar to "old school survivor tactics - it's all about the social manipulation of the game". Then he turns to Nulatao, they'll be sent to a beach that is scattered with idols and advantages - where the odds of being dominated by "new school survivor tactics" will be encouraged.
If the producers do a tribe swap, you can keep your advantage, but it has no power on Olpename's beach. The castaway receives a note to tell them they can keep it as a souvenir, or attempt to pass it to a old tribe-mate during a challenge...because, all advantages lose their power at the merge. Lastly, the merge will happen with 12 people left and they live on Nulatao's beach. However, from this point on idols and advantages are only eligible to be played on days when the number of castways remaining is an odd number - so it gives another day for people to find them once they merge and the last day to play an idol is final 5.
And no, no fire tokens or ways for Olpename to help Nulatao like in WaW....except to pass the advantage post-tribe swap.
I'm not saying that it's a perfect idea, but I just thought that it might be an interesting twist that gives something back to fans of the old school way to play, but also with the timetable of playing idols, helps force the hand of someone that has one to play it.
