I rarely post regarding survivor but I had a conversation this afternoon and had to share these thoughts. I am typing on my phone so I apologize for any formatting issues in advance.
So while driving home today, I was speaking with my dad who does not watch survivor, but who knows that I do. During the conversation he mentioned how he saw survivor in the news and how "some girls had a fake #MeToo moment." As he said that I realized the real damage that the girls last episode had done. In their lie or exaggeration, they changed the narrative that people outside the community were going to potentially recieve. Instead of the news article being about body autonomy or harrassment, it was about how women fake harassment claims for their own gain. Those of us watching saw the whe story develop but that is more than a headline - it's a complicated scenario that even those of us watching got to see less than 10 hours of.
For me, it really put into perspective the damage that one lie can do against a cause. There can be a million true accusation but one false one puts them all into question and that one can easily become the headline.
