micronesia (2008) is the first season of survivor that i remember watching as a kid, so i wanted to revisit it and sort of compare it to these new era seasons. i see why this is often regarded as a fan favorite season, with memorable characters and genuinely shocking blindsides.

it makes me wish the new era allowed more room for unpredictability. maybe it’s just me, but i feel like i can always predict exactly what the outcome of the episode will be based on the first five minutes. obviously that has a lot to do with the editing of the show, but i also think castaways are genuinely scared to make big moves these days and it shows.
