Fellas, is it hypocritical to root against villains?

The immediate reaction to episode two from the sub has been: “How dare you not like what the Yanu majority did, I thought you wanted villains?” And I kinda want to offer my own take on the matter, that being that villains are inherently meant to be rooted against, and so it’s not hypocritical to root against them.

Like, there is nothing better than a good villain downfall. Nothing tops Russell losing back to back seasons the exact same way, or Fairplay getting his butt handed to him by Lill at the final immunity before coming up just short. The fun of villains is that they give you someone to root AGAINST, which is just as important as having someone to root FOR. And you can root Fairplay or Russell, obviously, tons of people do, but it’s more fun to hope their just desserts come for them eventually. I want more villains on Survivor ≠ I want to root for the villain on Survivor.

So no, I’m not fans of the Yanu majority. I found Kenzie in particular to be kinda condescending towards the people outside of her alliance and some of the things she said rubbed me wrong.

HOWEVER, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I hope she loses, and I hope her loss is extremely satisfying, but if it is, it will add SOOOOO much to the season for me and I will probably like it much more than I would have had they chosen to present her as this extremely sanitized inoffensive player. I’m not rooting for her (or Q or Tiff at the moment), but that’s not hypocritical with my desire to see more villainous players represented on the show, because it’s kinda the whole reason I wanted more villains on the show.
