Does Jake deserve an Oscar?

Obviously Jake intentionally "slipped" by saying "if I play MY ido...I mean an idol" to make people think he found one. Which was great.
But take it a step further. Who thinks that whole weird section of him continuing to lose his train of thought was just to set the tone that his mind wasn't sharp and "sell" that slip up?
If that was all pre-meditated which I think so, that was some wild gameplay and maybe the best performance I've seen on the show.
