Anyone else feel like surfers don't use a whole lot of metrics or science when choosing equipment compared to other boards?
Post Body

I feel like through handmade boards and a multitude of different fin set ups/ placements the average surfer has very very little clue what anything on their board is really doing. ex. having a 7'0 twin fin with massive fins, when it comes down to fin placement even that makes a world of difference when it comes to pivoting/ drive and not many people even consider their fin placement when looking to buy a new board. Has anyone ever taken a more analytical approach to surfboards?
