What are your criteria for if a board is too small/big?
Post Body
Let's say you just got a new board. You used a surfboard calculator and got one with the exact recommended volume. After surfing it a few times, you decide you need to size up or down. For the purposes of this discussion, we're only talking about different sizes of the same board.
What are your criteria for deciding if you need to size up or down? So far, the only things I know about are
- Is it too hard to catch waves (assuming they're catch-able)? Size up.
- Do you want more maneuverability? Size down.
What other factors should be considered? Or is it really just that simple?
