I went to a surf shop, and I told them I was having trouble keeping speed through turns. The shop guy said that my fins would affect that, and that upgrading from my plastic side bites to fiberglass would help increase drive.
He recommended some quad rear fins as the side bites, and said that they worked fine as side bites. I (maybe foolishly) took his advice, and he installed the fins. The fins do not sit flush because the side bite boxes are too deep, but the shop guy said that would not matter.
I went home and did some research on the fins I got, and basically it seems quad rears do not work as side bites. I called Futures, and they gave the same advice as what I found online.
Before I go back to the shop and try to get a refund, will quad rears work as side bites? Or is the shop guy just being dumb/deceptive? I don't know what lesson to take from this experience other than always buy online instead of local, but that sucks.
