What’s your experience with stepping up on boards?

Intermediate kook here. Looking to step up on my boards. Went from 9’6 to a 5’10 38L thruster. Getting used to the feel. Pretty easy going on my cutbacks. Did not get to hang ten on the 9’6 yet. Still got lil baby in my quiver. Used to ride a 7’2 back in Florida, but waves only hit about like 4 feet. Now I’m out in Hawaii... uncles let me know that that 9 foot wave was about 4 feet Hawaiian. Lol

How does it feel on different boards? Maybe after 20 more sessions, gonna buy a new board. Thinking about getting a 7’2 again. Maybe even a thinner 6’ thruster. Something less than 38 for sure lol
