New to surfing, obviously.
I've wanted to surf for practically my entire life and now that I've moved to Orange County I feel like I can finally start actually trying. I got a wetsuit, picked up a wavestorm since that's everyone recommended, took a two hour private session at a surf school to get the basics down, and I've been getting to Huntington Beach at least once a week between 8-11 AM for the last few weeks for 2-3 hours to practice.
My problem is that those 2-3 hours are literally nothing but hours of paddling out, trying to catch a wave, and getting washed over, and over again on account of failing to pop up or catching the wave too early/late. It's kind of discouraging, mostly because I feel like being able to catch something just even once would make it all worth it, but I can't seem to manage even that.
Do you have any advice on how I can make my practice sessions more productive, or stuff that I could change to improve?
