Quad fish pumping problem. Fins?
Post Body

Hey everyone,

I have a 6ft10 quad fish, approx 45L. I'm 80kg and surf knee to head high waves with this board. Very intermediate surfer (advanced windsurfer).

I find it really easy to paddle and catch waves with, but I have issues generating speed. I also find it difficult to carve, despite it feeling very skatey and loose when the board is flat. Pretty frustrating, especially in small waves!

It currently has: - Electra flex medium front fins which are pretty soft - rears are FCS M-3 and a bit more stiff

I used to only have thrusters (mini mal, midlenght, shortboard) so I have some other sets of fins.

  • FCS ARC large
  • FCS PC-7
  • FCS SF-4

So, my questions are: Any recommendations about changing my fins with what I already have? Are the fronts too soft or Rears too soft or stiff? Are the rears supposed to have an asymmetric foil ?

I know the obvious answer is "try different combinations and find out what you like", but as I don't surf too much and live far from the beach, some guidance would be helpful 😊

Thanks in advance!
