What do you do with your dog when you surf?
Post Body

I always take my dog to the beach, but never when I go surf. I'm just not sure how to go about it. I don't want him to run after me into the water, so how did you guys train your dogs to chill on the beach while you surfed? Mine loves the water, and I feel like he would just yell at me if I didn't let him come out lol. We tried with my partner being there with him while I surfed and he just kept swimming out and she would have to get him and bring him back lol. I don't want to chain him up, and he's fine off leash, there's not really any people where I surf at, so it's empty 95% of the time.

Edit: thinking I could get him a life jacket and tether him on land with one of those 100 foot leashes, or 2 of them. Run it through pool noodles so it doesn’t tangle…? Could work. (This was a joke).

Edit edit: (cause holy shit) I don’t live in Cali. I libe near an essentially secluded beach. Taking the dog isn’t life or death. I don’t think people are understanding. But it’s different lifestyles for different people. I work from home so can afford to spend a lot of time with my dog. Out of want, not necessity. He’s fine on his own. It’s like asking where to eat. Doesn’t mean I can’t find food, just seeing what other things people recommend based off their experience!
