how is it to surf there as a home break? I have a job opportunity in Santa Rosa and i might not get a chance to visit before I accept. I used to live in Ca and I love that area but that was before I surfed so I don’t know the waves. I know it’s cold as shit and I guess the waves are pretty damn heavy? I also keep seeing everyone mention the sharks but is it really that sharky? San Diego has way more bites it looks like. My home break is Florida right now so it’s hard to get sharkier than that, but I’m definitely not used to seeing 15 ft great whites. How often do you get nice clean surf? Or even rideable surf? Again I’m in Fl so any wave with power is a big upgrade from what I’m used to. Are you guys pretty happy with the surf around there in general? Do you wish you lived somewhere else to surf? How is it to go to obsf or santa cruz on weekend trip or something from there? One last thing what kind of boards are typical? Guessing because of the power of the waves it’s like a shortboard with a bit more volume type area? I’ve been reading up on the area so I think I have an idea but I wanna hear from the locals or those of you who know it well.
