Ok so looking at the comments from one of the comments I made, yeah I really should lower my expectations and not compare it too much to Gokaiger. You guys have made a lot of good points. I'll lower my expectations on the whole anniversary aspect as a whole.

But the show needs to at least improve on one thing to make it good. 16 episodes in and there is barely any character development for anyone. Yes, slow burn, I get that it happens. But give me something, anything really. The main 5 are basically stuck in whatever archetype they have been in since the start. We've gotten more character development from the enemy bird compared to the main cast. Just give me that. Some character growth would go a long way to making this better for me.
