Relationship troubles in this rental crisis
Post Body

My (M24) partner (F28) and I are currently renting off my parents from pretty cheap, which has been super helpful in this rental crisis. However, we currently live with her sister too, which makes it affordable. Issue is that she is moving out soon and my girlfriend doesn’t not want to get a roommate to supplement that share of the rent.

She is pretty naive regarding the state of housing on the Sunshine Coast and Australia for that matter. She is willing to move rural but not too rural. She assumes that we will be able to find a decent place (with a dog, mind you) in say north lakes (being the furthest suburb livable for her) with a little effort. She does not realise the 100s - 1000s of others looking to secure a similar place with a more stellar history.

The most reasonable option (in my opinion) is to get a roommate in the place we are lucky to already have. She wants privacy, but I understand that since we’re young, we need to prioritise saving now, so we can be comfortable, say, 10 years down the road.

If anyone has any insights, please let me know, because it is starting to take a toll on our relationship.
