This isn't an especially angry "I quit" post. In truth I probably just stopped logging in a month ago, but between backing up my phone and getting a notification for a Bagel video, it was a bit of a nostalgic day. And it's time to make it official.
It felt a little weird to have quit. Sad to not finish my current projects. Surprisingly quick to hit the nostalgia with nonsense random things like seeing/hearing "Sonora" and having a first thought be about SW. And then going back through old screenshots today.
I don't miss the time lost, especially in cases like when you forgot you "need" to do something yet on SW just after you decide to go to sleep, costing you a half hour. Or trying to work around FRR when it's on Saturdays and overlaps with doing RL things. But as they add more content, it only becomes a bigger drain on time -- and it's not like I can blame Com2uS for adding more content, cause that's what we're here for. I guess I can't really blame the crazy RNG either as a lot of people here seem to defend/enjoy it, so that's further reason to not feel like I should be playing this game. In fact I'm not switching to another gacha -- pretty certain I'm done with them and phone games in general. There are other ways to use my time, including other games (with actual stories, fuller systems, and no systems designed to get micropayments!) So there have certainly been negatives too.
But for better and for worse, it has been something I've logged into nearly every day for many years now. It's been part of RL friendships, and there have been some personal highlights too. Like getting C1 for the first and last time in 2015 with an AO of Chloe, Belladeon, Arnold, and someone else (Raoq?) -- how far we've come since then. Mostly good times with ToA, or working on raid teams IRL before the BJ5 and similar teams. Getting more red crystals than I'd use (final total: 206,507). And of course spending time reading posts here and watching the occasional SW YouTube content.
Though I won't miss the time spent or the somewhat predatory way all mobile games work, there's a bit of a fond farewell.
Three screenshots from today and a few random ones from SW 2015: https://imgur.com/a/w3ydhn6 I know some of you have longer "Last Log In" friend totals
In the same vein as quitting various MMOs over the years... I'm now enjoying my newfound free time, but it has been fun!
