Context: I'm playing kayn into a shaco who's running hail of blades and ignite. I'm pretty sure he's going to cheese me somehow, so I choose to ward my botside, back for a sweeper, and start on my red buff.

I do golems, then as im finishing chickens, I see shaco walking into my jungle on my ward heading for my blue buff. I ping for help and my kat mid rotates, we clean up the shaco for a kill. I finish my clear and back.

The problem here is that my katarina is now down 2 levels on her lane opponent and never comes back into the game.

What should I have done here instead? Should i have not pinged for help so the kat could stay in lane and not lose xp? I'm really unsure
