According to online sources, Morellonomicon is the MOST built AP item (not including item pieces like blasting wand or starting items like dorans ring) it has more popularity than staples like death cap, ludens, void staff, and other items.

Why is an item with a grievous wounds passive allowed to be so strong? It has amazing stats for almost all mid lanes (100 ap, 400 mana, 20% CDR, mana regen passive on kill or assist.) And now we come to the main point of this post. Morellos applies grievous wounds FOR 8 FREAKING SECONDS on ANY magic damage when the target is under 40% health. This includes activatable items, death fire touch procs, damage over time, etc.

For example why I think this is so ridiculous. Imagine Malzahar casts his E on you. His E lasts 4 seconds, then DFT applies it for another second, meaning you can have grievous wounds on you for a whole 11 seconds AFTER the last time malz cast an ability on you. 11 seconds is an eternity in a team fight.

I just dont understand why this item is allowed to be a staple in almost every mids build.
