[PEP TALK] So You Aren't Improving. Now What?

Post Body

Hey You,

Yeah. You. The guy (girl?) who's not improving. You're playing games and reading guides and know all the things and dammit you're still in [League]. Maybe you're depressed about it. Shit. I've been there, man. It sucks.

Maybe other things aren't going great either. I'm not really here to talk about that aspect (it's not appropriate) other than to say - I get it, a LOT of other people are in your boat, though I know that statement means exactly jack shit to you. Life sucks sometimes. Sometimes it sucks for a REALLY LONG time. There's not much to do except ride through it and frankly, suffer through it.

But I'm here to tell you I believe in you.

Seriously. I do. I believe you can achieve greatness. And not because "everyone has the capacity to achieve greatness" which just sounds like an empty platitude (but it's still true), but because I believe in YOU. Because you came here. Because you come here every goddamn day looking to get better at something that you truly enjoy doing.

And that's pretty damn amazing.

Did you know that belief is the #1 correlated factor with achieving desired results? That's right. Believing you'll hit your stretch goal (whatever that goal happens to be) will do more for your results than reading things, or working on specific areas (though both of these certainly help and should be involved in the belief process), or WANTING to reach it, or TRYING to reach it, or just "putting in the work."

I think you've just sort of lost sight of how to actually implement everything, and perhaps you're just reaching out in the dark, hoping something finally clicks and you'll get back to feeling like you're consistently a factor in your games.

You wanna know the secret? Here it is:

You're just waiting to believe in yourself.

You don't quite believe in yourself, so until you do, just know that I believe in you, and hopefully that's enough. Now obviously this one factor alone won't win all of your games (cue the "tell that to my 0/5 Yasuo and 3/10 bot lane" meme-lord), but it will see you improve more than anything else.

I guess that's all I have to say. Maybe this won't really hit home for anyone, but I've just seen a lot of depression on the sub lately, and it makes ME sad. Let's achieve greatness together, guys. We can do it.

Project

On that note I'm working on a project to really help the community actually improve that I will "announce" soon, and I'm hoping there's enough interest in it. Think something similar to "sports practice" that you did when you were in little league - I'm just working out the kinks for a "schedule."

If you are intensely interested (and I mean, like, passionate, not just mildly curious) about participating in something like this and really putting in at least one to two hours of solid practice in a day (more on weekends), please PM me, I'm looking for dedicated "founders" to really get this project moving forward to be a lasting and permanent fixture to help people improve. Looking for people of all ELO's.
