Lee Sin tank or AD?

Hi guys ^ I'm a summoner on EUW ^ a few weeks ago i actively started to play Lee Sin. And i fell in love with him. I usually go jungle AD: SotEL, hydra, bt, lw or something similar. Now, i watched a Plat guy play Lee, and he built tank with only hydra? Does this even work, because your damage is not very high then?
I suppose it all depends on what team comp you have, and if you are ahead or behind... thoughts?
I am Bronze, if that matters :P
