This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think Summer House needs a reboot if it’s going to survive.

Hear me out. Im currently rewatching seasons 1-2 and I enjoy these seasons so much more in hindsight. I always liked them but I have a deep appreciation for how the show started as a group of friends with history. The vibe of the house is so much better. There is conflict, there are hookups and relationships, but the show feels lighter. The house actually has some unity to it and functions like a summer share. People clean up, they all hang out, they make dinner, they party together.

I think for summer house as a franchise to have any chance of surviving then it needs to return to some form of its roots. Idk how this would happen, but I think the couples need to go. Watching couples is boring IMO and the drama between them all is getting stale. We know it’s gonna be Lindsay vs everyone else which has been the theme the last few seasons.

I’d like to see less couples, less forced hooking up (it’s starting to feel like bachelor in paradise), a more unified group of friends, and more activities that aren’t theme parties. Summer house used to not just be random theme parties every episode. The theme parties had a purpose & actually did not really exist much in S1.

ETA: As someone else pointed out below, I think the show has a production issue. In previous seasons, we got the interstitials of them in the city (even if they were staged) and I feel like that helped with the storylines/create some dynamism to the episodes. It also helped keep the viewers attuned to the fact that these people had lives they were working hard at (which was the whole premise to begin with). Production has totally dropped that for the most part.

In previous seasons, we also had explanations for why people were missing for the weekend & now none of that which just makes it confusing.

Idk, guys...I just think the show needs help. S6, except for the reunion, was such a let down for me. I used to really love this show. I've been watching since it premiered and would look forward to it returning each season. I also didn't mind the Covid season! Just something happened to the show once the SC people got on WH and then infiltrated S6 all the new people that aren't actually friends with anyone or interesting. FYI -- I stopped watching WH this season and just keep up by listening to WWC recaps. The show itself is so boring to me and full of filler i don't care about.
