I’m on a rewatch and here are some of the thoughts I have (I’m up to season 4)
Post Body

  1. I forgot how much I loved Paige in her earlier seasons. She is so funny and confident, and just generally nice. She was such a great addition to the house and I’m sad that she lost this (in my eyes). Do we think she became bitchier with Ciara? For me, Mya’s addition actually brought a lot of bitchy/clicky energy. Maybe because it increased the numbers so much, but I just find her bitchy. Each time someone new came in and they joined that girls group, it just really made the numbers feel very unbalanced. Those girls keep going on like they weren’t included when they came in, but I saw Lindsay befriend them all, and then in reality they are the bitchy/clicky group by season 6. It’s confusing to me.

  2. I also want to mention that I also found Hannah funny in her first two seasons, what the hell happened to her in her last season?! She absolutely lost it.

  3. Even upon rewatch, I still can’t figure out the history of Paige’s(and the other girls’) hate towards Lindsay. Does it only stem back to Austin? Because she often talks about how Lindsay wasn’t welcoming and my observation is that Lindsay was really chummy very quickly with both Paige and Hannah. She also seems to really like Amanda too. Granted, she is an intense character and she was definitely team Carl, and even team Kyle, but she was still chummy with the other girls regardless. I’m not a Lindsay stan perse, but she is good TV and I just don’t get the hate. There’s been one scene where she tells Carl to put Paige on ice (s3) and then when Paige is talking about it later she keeps asking why there is a committee (lol). But I didn’t see this as a huge thing and it was easily resolved.

  4. Katie and Tom from VPR come to visit. They haven’t been married for long, and Amanda uses them as an example of a couple that “doesn’t have a perfect history, but still got married”. I was watching it thinking: well this aged terribly for her.

  5. It’s incredibly hard to watch Jules and the way she’s treated in this season. I don’t know why they put her into the house as Hannah’s friend, because after the first ep Hannah never talks to her again. Previously, the people in the house knew each other coming in. Paige, Hannah and Jordan came in knowing each other from work. It just seems like she doesn’t slot in with the group very well, and on top of that they treat her so badly.

  6. I genuinely forgot how much of a fickle, narcissistic f boy Carl was! In season 3 he tries to run the narrative that Paige is leading him on, simply because she won’t sleep with him. He never speaks to her during the week, and makes no attempt to take her on dates, but because she won’t sleep with him on the weekend, and is dating other people, he tries to play the victim and act like she is leading him on. Kyle backs this up too. He also tells Lindsay he’s interested in dating her, but changes his mind very quickly. He is also disgusting to Jules.

  7. In season 4, Danielle is saying “I’m really struggling to get used to this”, referring to Lindsay and Carl potentially dating. She also tells them they’re moving too fast because they kiss in the taxi. It’s deja vu. How many seasons was she actually going to need?! She was still saying the same thing word for word in the most recent season. She was really never on board with them. I’ve seen some things floating around like “Danielle and Paige knew”. But in reality, I think Danielle was just jealous and Paige just doesn’t like L. I don’t think it was some intuitive foresight personally. The whole “told you so” energy rubs me the wrong way too. It’s like revelling in someone misery, and really no one knows someone relationship bar the two people in it!

Edit- For the people saying Danielle wasn’t jealous, shortly after C and L hookup (the first time), Danielle is verbally relieved it’s over. Then shorty after she is hooking up with C herself…

Listen we all know Hannah sucks but I will say the one thing about her—I think she grounded Paige. And that’s why Paige was so much more likable in the seasons with Hannah. Hannah makes Paige lighter and less serious and less bitchy
