Some examples I've read before to go off are things like the Jack Reacher novels. Reacher is incredibly competent and near-always on top of things in the situation.

Another example would be Without Remorse. The half of the novel concerning the MCs gurellia war against drug dealers was great fun, and I'd love another story like that. Ex-Soldier forced to take a stand against an evil group, even for his own satisfaction after they wronged him or someone he loves.

That all being said. If you somehow know of a novel with an MC that's badass, and it can deliver an emotional or thought provoking story that isn't at odds with the MC, I would be open to that suggestion as well.
