I absolutely loved the tone of Vita Nostra -- foreboding, confusing, like you're just on the edge of figuring something big out. Always enjoyed the school trope as well, so I'm looking for another fantasy book set in a school that has the same sort of dark tone. Would prefer adult fiction, but open to YA if the prose is relatively sophisticated (think Wizard of Earthsea or the Hobbit, not Harry Potter or Charlie Bone).
Books I've already read set in a magic school: Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, Charlie Bone series, Earthsea Cycle, Red Rising, School for Psychics, Ender's Game. Thanks for any suggestions!!
