Books about making/crafting things.

I have recently read the Kingkiller Chronicles and for portions of the book it shows him crafting lamps or other various objects in a learning environment, sometimes with input from a teacher.
I have found these sections to be some of my favorite from the books.
Anyone know of any other books that have something similar?
