The last square that I need for a bingo in my library's summer reading program is an award-winning book. I want to get some suggestions for things that I wouldn't look to otherwise. Also, I would prefer something 300 pgs or less, since I only have 10 days to read it, and I work long hours. Genre-wise, I am pretty open.
Some books that I like: Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore, 44 Scotland Street, The Expanse series, Harry Potter, The first three Prof. Dr. Von Igelfeld amusements (but not as much the last one), PG Wodehouse, etc.
In case you're interested, the first three squares that I read were first book in a series (The Land of Stories: the Wishing Spell, because my daughter wanted me to so we could talk about it), book with a dog or cat on the cover (Unusual Uses for Olive Oil), and a book with a number in the title (44 Scotland Street). I want to use this last one to find a new book/author that I might like, since Unusual Uses for Olive Oil and 44 Scotland Street are by the same author, one that I was already familiar with.
